Harvest times

Harvest time is something truly special for those of us who work closely with the land. During this year’s harvest, we had the pleasure of visiting several of our dedicated organic farmers across the country – growers who, through their knowledge, care and respect for the land, lay the foundations for truly excellent flour.

Their work is crucial to the quality of our mill. Meeting them on site, seeing the fields, feeling the grain and chatting by the edge of the field is both inspiring and humbling.

Halland wheat grows along the Viskan river, just a stone’s throw from the mill.

In Halland, we met Bengt Gunnarsson, who has been with us right from the very start. Here, in the sun-kissed fields along the banks of the Viskan, Halland wheat is harvested – a source of local pride with excellent baking properties, not least in pizza dough.

Emmer is grown by Björn Rosvall in Halla on Gotland.

On Gotland, we visited Björn Rosvall, who grows emmer for us – one of our most prized heritage varieties. After many years of telephone conversations, it was a real pleasure to finally see the farm and the grain up close.

Harvest time at Julius Andersson’s farm in Skåne.

In Skåne, we met Julius Andersson, a passionate organic farmer who grows Öland wheat for us. It is a grain that is particularly close to our hearts – after all, it was on Öland that our milling history began, six generations ago.

Veronika at a flour buffet at Rudenstam in Huskvarna.

To round off the harvest season in style, we also attended Rudenstam’s harvest festival in Huskvarna – an opportunity to meet up, share the joy of this year’s harvest and discuss ingredients, craftsmanship and the future.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s tour – and more meetings with our fantastic organic farmers.
